Dudley, Sr. DUDLEY STARTS CLASS FOR MILLIONAIRES By John Raye So you want to be a millionaire? A class that teaches students how to become bona fide millionaires is now underway in Kernersville, taught exclusively by one of the nation’s best-known self-made millionaires, Joe L, Dudley, Sr., the founder of Dudley Products. Largely, Dudley teaches the class, officially entitled Professional Salesmanship and Retailing, with himself and a staff of selected professionals who share a time-tested, step-by-step approach to becoming financially self-sufficient. Created under the guidance of the Dudley Leadership Institute, the class provides two days of hands- on, intensive training and instructions in finance, money management, financial planning, marketing, strategic planning, entrepreneurship, character and personality development, salesmanship. Continued on Page 6 MILES HARRY LAUNCHES COMPUTER SERVICE Equipped with over twenty years in the information technology field and a passion for computer literacy. Miles Harry has formed a computer service company. “Getting people to utilize the many advantages a computer brings to a business, organizations and to one’s personal life” is my objective says Harry. Sen/ices in hardware and software selections, web site development, training and techni cal support will be among the ser vices offered. Who benefits from a computer service? Harry says most people think only a business would need a computer service. “Businesses are a major client base, however, commu nity groups and organizations, churches and individuals will be a primary focus.” Many times individuals need help in selecting a computer to meet their needs. “One of the most common pitfalls people fall into when purchasing a computer is that they buy more computing capacity at a higher cost than they need,” say Miles Harry Harry. In other words, they spend too much moneyl “I help a lot of people set up their systems,” says Harry. They tend to get frustrated when they’ve just purchased a computer and they run into problems. For instance the printer isn’t working, the mouse isn’t clicking, the scanner doesn’t scan, and their e-mail isn’t responding. That’s when they need someone to come in and provide support and technical assistance. Churches have an opportunity to really modernize their record keeping systems and keep in touch with their membership, Harry states. There are Continued on Page 27 Deputy James Tatum HISTORY MAKER: JAMES TATUM RETIRES By Sheila Stover “My drive in life has always been to strive and press my way to become self- sufficient. I’ve always set my goals to be the best and most successful in all of my endeavors. Another thing I have always enjoyed is — extending a helping hand”, says Deputy James Tatum who retired after 30.6 years from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office on November 30, 2000. A very industrious person, Tatum says he will continue to serve others and extend a helping hand, as he will remain active as a member in many of the organizations in which he is involved. Tatum is a member of Wentz United Memorial Church of Christ where he is a Deacon and works as an Advisor to the Boys Scouts. Now that Tatum has retired, he plans to give more time working as a Deacon in his church. He also looks forward to extending his activities in his role as one of the advisors with the Boy Scout Troop in which his son, James Tatum III is a member. He is very proud of his Dad. Tatum says he will continue to serve as an Advisor. Some of his activities with this group are teaching classes on camping, sanitation, map reading, how to build camp fires, put up tents, and emergency techniques while at a camp site. R. Leslie Community Development Corporation (CDC) to begin streetscape and landscape design services for the beautification of Excelsior Street. Excelsior Street, a historically black neighborhood surrounding the WSSU campus, was the first project of the SG Atkins CDC (SGACDC).
